Itinerary | Kinner Kailash Trekking - 9N/10D
Day 1: Arrival in Shimla
Arrive in Shimla early in the morning and check in to your hotel. After breakfast, head to Jakhu Hill to visit the sacred Hanuman Temple, followed by the museum and the Advanced Study Hall. Return to the hotel for lunch. Spend the afternoon exploring the Mall Road at leisure. Overnight stay in Shimla.
Day 2: Shimla to Sarahan (1920m) – 190 km
After breakfast, drive through Kufri and Narkanda, descending towards Rampur—the former capital of the Rampur Bushahr kingdom. Continue your journey to Sarahan, the summer capital of the Bushahr rulers. Visit the 1500-year-old Bhimakali Temple and enjoy magnificent views of the Shrikhand Mahadev range. Overnight stay in camp.
Day 3: Sarahan to Recong Peo – Kalpa (2290m)
Drive to Recong Peo, the district headquarters of Kinnaur, and visit the monastery perched above the town. Continue to Kalpa, known for its spectacular, direct views of the sacred Kinner Kailash range—believed to be an abode of Lord Shiva. Overnight stay in a guesthouse or camp.
Day 4: Recong Peo to Lamber (2896m) – 12 km Trek
Drive to Thangi and begin a gentle trek along a serene stream that leads to the beautiful campsite at Lamber. Overnight stay in tents.
Day 5: Lamber to Charang (3500m) – 12 km Trek
Begin your trek toward Charang, passing through diverse landscapes and the traditional Surting shepherd homes. Overnight stay at the shepherd house.
Day 6: Charang to Lalanti (4421m) – 11 km Trek
Trek to Lalanti, known for its fields covered with wildflowers and scenic beauty. This is one of the prettiest camping spots on the route. Overnight stay in Lalanti.
Day 7: Lalanti to Base of Charang Pass (4550m) – 6 km Trek
Follow a steady ascent through boulder-filled terrain and moraine fields to reach the Charang Pass Base Camp. Set up camp on the glacier field. Overnight stay at base camp.
Day 8: Base Camp to Chhitkul via Charang Pass (4950m) – 9 km Trek
Start with a steep 2-hour climb across rocky landscapes to cross the Charang Pass at 4950m. Begin your descent towards Chhitkul—the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibet border. Overnight stay in a camp near the village.
Day 9: Chhitkul to Sangla
Proceed to Sangla, located in the stunning Baspa Valley. Visit Kamru Fort and explore the traditional village architecture and culture. Overnight stay in Sangla.
Day 10: Sangla to Shimla – 203 km
Drive back to Shimla, crossing the Karcham Dam and retracing the scenic mountain highway. Your memorable Kinner Kailash trek concludes upon arrival in Shimla.
